Science and Technology
Supervisor:
Science should be engaging, relevant and challenging to the students in the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District. To meet this goal, teachers and staff have developed curricula that are aligned with the State Standards in Science. At the elementary level, students have additional science exposure with our science specialists at Roosevelt and Vernon. This allows them to explore and enrich their understanding of science concepts. Students also participate in science fairs in the spring, conducting their own experiments and displaying their results. In addition, students have several opportunities for fieldtrips to enrich their understanding of science. The high school program offers students many choices in electives and Advance Placement Courses. Many students choose to take more than one science class during the school year. Again, teachers have developed significant science experiences that go beyond the classroom and engage students in learning and doing science.
