During the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District Board of Education meeting on March 12, eight Oyster Bay High School students were recognized for being top scorers in the Mathematical Association of America’s American Mathematics Competition 10 and 12. The AMCs are a series of examinations that not only build problem-solving skills, but also foster a love of mathematics through friendly competition.
This past fall semester, students in grades 9-12 participated in the competition. Oyster Bay High School’s top scorers included Julia DeAngelis, Will Kelly, Max Marotti, Dany Yanes Mejia, Omek Kumar, Rose Lindstrom, Joseph Sapienza and Johnathan Zakarian. During the board meeting, each student was congratulated on their outstanding achievement and was presented with a certificate.
