A Season of Creativity: Oyster Bay-East Norwich Celebrates Successful Art Shows at All Three Schools

This spring, the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District celebrated a season of remarkable artistic achievement, as all three schools hosted their annual art shows, a reflection of the talent, creativity and dedication across all grade levels.
The art gallery at Roosevelt School was held on April 23, transforming the building into a showcase of student creativity from Pre-K through the upper elementary grades. Visitors were treated to an impressive variety of work, from vivid, colorful paintings to intricate mixed media projects, each piece reflecting the hard work and imagination that students brought to their studies throughout the year. The event would not have been possible without the generous support of parent volunteers, who gave their time to help hang the displays and bring the gallery to life. Special recognition goes to K-2 Art Teacher Ms. Meredith Brustman, whose dedication and leadership were instrumental in making the evening such a success.
On May 7, the hallways of James H. Vernon School were transformed into a vibrant gallery as the annual Vernon Art Gallery event welcomed families and community members to experience the artistic achievements of students in grades 3 through 6. Hundreds of original works filled the space, offering visitors a rich and diverse look at the visual arts curriculum at Vernon. Guiding Vernon’s young artists is art teacher Ms. Miley, whose commitment to her students is evident in every canvas and creation displayed throughout the school.
Rounding out the season, the art show at Oyster Bay-East Norwich Middle-High School on May 19 offered an impressive demonstration of the breadth and depth of artistic skill students have developed at the secondary level. Paintings, drawings, photographs, mixed media pieces, and sculptures were all on display, a full spectrum of artistic disciplines that speaks to the comprehensive arts education offered at OBMHS. Behind this exceptional program are three dedicated art educators: Mr. Boris, Mr. Chocianowski, and Ms. Randazzo, whose passion for the arts and commitment to their students continues to inspire outstanding work year after year.
Congratulations to all of the students whose work was featured this spring, and to the art teachers and parent volunteers who made these evenings possible: thank you.
