Ten Oyster Bay High School students earn AP Capstone Diplomas

Ten Oyster Bay High School students have earned the AP Capstone Diploma, recognizing their achievement in the College Board’s rigorous research-based diploma program.
Emme Carleo, Mia Carleo, AnaLuz Ferrer, Emma Hampton, Elise Kim, Christos Kokotos, Maalika Mehta, Kaela Miley, William Nobel and Sophia Pavlovic earned the distinction by completing AP Seminar and AP Research and scoring a 3 or higher on four additional AP Exams.
AP Seminar and AP Research are designed to complement students’ other AP coursework. Rather than focusing on a specific academic subject, the courses develop skills that prepare students for college-level work, including critical thinking, research, collaboration, time management, academic writing and presentation.
The College Board developed the AP Capstone program at the request of higher education professionals who identified a need for students to begin building these skills before entering college.
Throughout AP Seminar and AP Research, students investigate complex topics and questions across multiple disciplines. They learn to evaluate sources and evidence, consider different perspectives and develop well-supported arguments. Students complete extensive research, write academic papers and present and defend their work.
Oyster Bay High School congratulates these 10 students on earning the AP Capstone Diploma and completing a demanding course of study that reflects their commitment to academic excellence.
