The Oyster Bay-East Norwich community gathered on June 18th for the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District’s Board of Education meeting. Held in the Oyster Bay High School auditorium, it was a celebratory evening as the district recognized a dedicated board member and retirees.

Darren Gerbosi, board of education trustee, was honored by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Francesco Ianni and the entire Oyster Bay-East Norwich Board of Education for his four years of dedicated service to the district. Dr. Ianni praised him for his hard work and presented him with a plaque.

In addition, two retirees were celebrated for their positive contributions and years of service in the district – Jane Cammarata and Eileen McCartney.

Jane Cammarata retires with 31 years of service in Pre-K, kindergarten and first grade. Jane was instrumental in creating a supportive environment for students and was very helpful to parents experiencing their first encounters with schooling their young children.

Eileen McCartney spent 28 years working in every school as a nurse. She trained all the nurses and provided exceptional support to student athletes. Eileen was a pillar of strength during crises, particular the Covid-19 pandemic, offering vital support to both students and staff.
