Oyster Bay High School proudly hosted its 9th annual Field of Honor ceremony on the front lawn, where the community gathered to honor veterans and show gratitude for their service. Organized by Assistant Principal John Pardue in partnership with the school’s Interact Club, the event showcased rows of American flags fluttering across the lawn and featured a Field of Honor board with heartfelt messages of thanks and appreciation.
The ceremony began with the Oyster Bay High School band playing the national anthem, setting a tone of reverence for the occasion. After a moment of silence, two band members performed “Taps” on trumpet, filling the air with a moving tribute to those who served and sacrificed. Principal Melissa Argaman added to the solemnity by placing a red, white, and blue wreath at the school's 9/11 memorial, an act symbolizing remembrance and respect for all fallen heroes.
Local veterans attended as honored guests and were recognized for their service, surrounded by students, staff and community members united in gratitude. To close the event, the Oyster Bay High School band played “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
This annual event continues to connect students with the values of service, sacrifice, and community, honoring the legacy of those who have served and teaching the importance of remembrance for future generations.
