This past weekend, the James H. Vernon School auditorium transformed into a magical chocolate factory as students dazzled the community with their production of “Willy Wonka.” From golden tickets to candy-coated dreams, the musical showcased the incredible talents and dedication of Vernon’s students, staff and families.
With 418 students enrolled at Vernon, a remarkable 164 students participated in this year’s production, representing 39% of the school’s entire student body. The cast featured 106 student actors who brought Roald Dahl’s beloved characters to life with energy and charm. Behind the scenes, 22 fifth and sixth grade students served as crew members, ensuring seamless transitions and technical support, while 36 third and fourth grade students contributed their artistic flair to set design and props, creating vibrant and whimsical backdrops.
The production was directed and choreographed by Ms. Chiappardi, with Ms. Kemp serving as assistant director and Mr. Costidis as musical director. The stage crew, guided by advisors Ms. Muller and Mr. Dollin, operated lighting, projections and sound, adding a professional touch to the performances. Their collective efforts resulted in a polished, delightful show that left audiences cheering.
Congratulations to the cast, crew, and creative team on a spectacular show that highlighted the talents and dedication of James H. Vernon School students.
